Home Exterminating Company was established in Baltimore, Maryland in 1939 by Walter A. Tilley, Senior. Active in his community, Mr. Tilley Sr. was a founder of the Maryland Pest Control Association in 1943. This association of industry members set the stage for the modern pest management industry and helped to form a framework for the industry's business and regulatory standards.

Home Exterminating was headquartered on Charles Street and had strong ties to the city. On October 10, 1950 Mr. Tilley Sr. earned the designation “Honorary Rat Catcher” of the City of Baltimore by Mayor Thomas D. Alessandro.

In the 1960's, after serving in the Marine Corps, Walter A. Tilley, Jr. officially joined the company. Under his leadership, Home began to expand to serve additional communities. In the 1980's Mr. Tilley Jr. acquired Virginia-based Paramount Termite Control, a regional powerhouse. The two companies ultimately merged to form Home Paramount Pest Control.

Today, Home Paramount is a third-generation family-owned and operated business with offices in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia and Florida. Home Paramount is ranked among the twenty largest pest management firms in the United States.
